The Hair Trial

I met Megan for her hair trial 1 month before her wedding. This was perfect as her hair was going to be pretty much the same being so close to the wedding day

I ask my brides to come to the trial with hair ideas along with a picture of ‘The Dress’. We discuss the style of the wedding to, this really help get the perfect style for your day, making sure it all works seamlessly together

Megan had the most beautiful blonde thick hair with a soft wave

Her ideal style was a sleek smooth bun, but this style evolved into a beautiful textured bun with her hair softly framing the face which Megan was a lot more

comfortable with as the sleek bun just looked way to formal. It sounds crazy but your hair needs to suit your personality, you want to still look like you, just the best version!

With the trial completed and having taken step-by-step photos of the styling process I then worked out the timings for the morning and sent them over to my ‘work wife’ Victoria Bradfield who was the make-up artist for Megan’s wedding. This ensures our timings work together, helping create a stress free morning

The Wedding Day

I have to say, I spend a lot of my life driving up and down the infamous A12 with the fantastic ongoing roadworks and speed restrictions, but with an early start of 5am on a September weekend it’s almost a joy! Pink skies, no-one on the road, with the last half an hour driving through the most beautiful scenic countryside with the abundance of wildlife including a stoat, deer, rabbits and pigeons, all luckily alive, enjoying the dewy morning, the sat nav got me to Megan’s parents little village for my 6.15am start

Victoria Bradfield was already there! And I thought my start was early! We had a fabulous spread of amazing pastries from the local bakery laid out and a much needed coffee too, this is always much appreciated when I’ve had such an early start!

With my audience being 2 lovely little babies, I set up on the huge dining table firstly styling 2 bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride and then I styled Megan, firstly prepping her hair with setting spray, backcombing the root with A.S.P. Mode Wonder Dust heated rollers on the top of her head and then curling the rest of her hair with my styling wand to create texture and volume. I was then ready to style. Using my notes and step-by-step photos, styling in small sections (like a jigsaw puzzle!) This ensures the hair is not going to fall down, as it is pinned securely in the sections

Finished with Morocconoil curl creme, luminous hairspray and glimmer shine I then added Megan’s hair accessory

I styled the final 2 bridesmaids with half up half down hairstyles.

Megan got into her Suzanne Neville dress from House of Snow and I added her veil as her finishing touch

Myself and Victoria patted ourselves on the back for a wedding morning well done and said our goodbyes, Megan and her bridal party left for her church wedding, with her reception that was to be held at Bruisyard Hall, where myself and Victoria are both recommended suppliers

We heading off for a well deserved slap up lunch at Retreat East which was absolutely delicious!

Another fabulous wedding completed!
